How do I book and pay for a cooking class?

All cooking class bookings can be easily made via our website. Payment can be made via credit/debit card and is due when a booking is made. If, for any reason you are having trouble making a booking, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will gladly assist you.

Cash, credit card (excluding Amex & Diners) and direct deposit payment methods are all accepted for manually assisted bookings.

How do I know if my place in the class is confirmed?

All reservations are deemed confirmed once payment is received in full. You will also receive a confirmation email with a receipt and general class information. If a confirmation email is not received within an hour of your booking, please contact us immediately to ensure your booking has been processed successfully.

Can I purchase a gift voucher?

Gift vouchers are available for purchase from the gift page on our website.

How do I redeem a gift voucher?

Gift vouchers can be redeemed when booking a class via the website.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

We do our very best to accommodate certain dietary requirements, however it is sometimes not possible with every dish within a particular class. So long as we know in advance, we do our very best. Please email us with any religious; ethical or allergy based dietary restrictions at the time of your booking.

Where is Salt & Company Cooking School?

We are located at Warehouse 1, 239 Fitzgerald Street, West Perth, opposite the Robertson Park tennis courts. There’s plenty of parking in the public car park at the rear of the building, which can be accessed from Lawley Street.

How long do classes run for?

Standard classes run for around 3.5 hours. There are a few special classes scheduled through the year that run a little longer or shorter than this. The kids classes run for 3 hours, and the Get Your French On and Beer X Food classes each run for 4 hours. Though we do endeavour to ensure our classes finish on time, because the nature of cooking and eating, we ask that you leave 20 minutes leeway for post class commitments, to avoid missing out on that last mouthful of dessert or having to cut short a goodbye to your new found friends.

How many participants are there in each class?

There are 14 participants in each general public hands-on class. This does not include special classes, corporate or private events.

Do you provide recipes to take home?

Yes, we most certainly do.

Do I need to bring anything to a class?

All equipment and ingredients for each class are provided. There is no need for you to bring anything other than a personal apron and some BYO beverages, if you are so inclined.

Can I BYO Alcohol?

Our classes are BYO! Which means that you can bring along your special beverage of choice to enjoy with your meal. For safety reasons, we do ask that any drinking during preparation be kept to a maximum of 2 standard drinks – basically if you can’t drive, its probably not a good idea to use a knife.

Do I need to eat before class?

Food serving times in the classes will vary depending on each class menu. Generally food is served later in the session so if you think you might get a little peckish, we suggest a light snack before hand.

Can I take food home with me?

All dishes cooked during class are also enjoyed during class. Salt & Company does not have a ‘take away’ food license, therefore all food must be consumed on premise.

Can I bring a camera to the class?

Most definitely you are welcome to bring a camera, however video is not permitted. We request that you use discretion and consider other participants’ privacy if taking photographs.

Can I bring a friend to watch?

Sorry but we cannot accommodate this. Only confirmed guests that have paid for a place in a class may attend. You are most welcome to come with a friend, partner or friends, however they will need to register and pay for their place in the class.

What do I wear to a cooking class?

Salt & Company’s health and safety obligations require that all participants wear closed in, flat shoes and appropriate clothing, with long hair tied back neatly. We reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone who wears high-heeled shoes, or fails to wear closed shoes or appropriate clothing. Should we exercise this right, excluded participants will not be entitled to a refund, transfer or voucher.

I am under 18. Can I attend a class?

If you are 16 or older, you are welcome to attend a regular adult class. However Photo ID may be requested at the start of the night, and participants under the age of 18 will not be permitted to consume alcohol.

Do I need to be of a certain skill level to attend a class?

Not at all, our classes have been designed and our teachers trained, to accommodate participants of all skill levels and cooking backgrounds, plus you will have plenty of friendly teammates. So no pressure, just relax and remember to ask plenty of questions if you are ever unsure; that is exactly what we are there for!

Can I add my name to a waiting list if a class is sold out?

If a scheduled class is sold out, an option to go on the waitlist appears in the text-box stating ‘WAIT LIST’ where you would normally click book. Click that link then follow the prompts to pop yourself on the waitlist.

My gift voucher expires soon and your current classes are not until after the expiry date. What are my options?

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. We are more than happy for you to attend a class scheduled after the expiry date, as long as you redeem your voucher by booking a class online before the expiry date.

Do you host corporate team building events?

Yes. Please see our corporate page or contact us for more information

Do you host private events?

We sure do. Please see our events page or contact us for more information.
